Christmas trees

Julie Baker combined the new Silhouette Basic Squares with the Art Stamps trees to create this pretty Christmas card. When stamping the squares in matching colors it gives your cards a nice touch.

The piece of white card I’ve used for the stamped panel measures approximately 11x13 cm but I cut it slightly larger and trimmed it once I was happy with my layout. I’ve then begun by stamping the thin, rectangular stamp in the set as a strip down one side of the panel.  I recommend placing a dark piece of card under the white card as it helps to highlight where you are stamping.

Stamp two smaller blocks in different shades of green.  Then stamp the trees, again in green inks.  If you only have a limited selection of inks, you can always get a lighter shade by using the second generation of ink.  This is where you have inked your stamp and stamped it once which gives you the first brighter colour, then stamp again without re-inking to give you the lighter print.  Now trim the panel, if needed, to tidy up the edges.   Stamp the Christmas sentiment.

To begin assembling your card, cut a piece of design paper, to fit a 15x15cm card blank.  I’ve used a piece with the snowflake pattern down one edge.  Fix a piece of ribbon down the middle of the thin, rectangle print and mount the panel on white foam pads. Fix in place to the right of the design paper so that the snowflake pattern still shows.  Add some white dots on the trees with the gel pen, and a rhinestone on the top of each tree.  Add some more rhinestones to the centre of the snowflakes on the design paper and finally, add a few to the white space on the image panel.
