Vrolijke vlinders

Julie made this card into a fence by using the Creatables Strips. Above the fence beautiful butterflies are fluttering around. What a lovely, colorful display.

Make your own background papers by stamping the inks on the gel press and then spritz with water to get the inks moving around. Dab a piece of watercolour paper in the ink until you are happy with the colours.  Leave to dry.

Cut off the bottom 10cm of the front of the card blank.  Using the offcut piece, die-cut 6 strips using the widest Stripe die in the set. Firstly, make the down pieces of the fret work by laying three strips vertically and equally spaced along the remaining front of the card. Fix in place just at the lower edge of the front panel.  Lay the three remaining strips equally across the vertical strips.  Fix to the vertical pieces once you are happy with the look.  Trim off any pieces that overhang the bottom or the sides of the card.

When your inked piece of card is dry cut a panel measuring 17x7cm to fit the top of the card blank – distress the edges if you’d like a shabby chic feel to your card.  Stamp the butterfly stamp onto the piece before sticking down and colour the butterflies with watercolour brushes – I’ve used Stazon black ink which is compatible with watercolour paints.

Die cut some swirls or flourishes in green card to trail across the lattice section of the card front. Using more of the inked paper, die cut the flower petals and centres using the dies in the Dragonfly set.  Make several five petal flowers and also three petal versions to look like flowers that are yet to bloom.  You can also just cut some of the flower centres to look like small blooms on the lattice.  Stamp a section of the butterfly stamp onto the remaining inked paper and fussy cut two or three of the larger butterflies. Also die-cut a dragonfly from the inked papers.  Fix in place around the lattice piece.

Finally add a banner tag with sentiment to the top part of the card and fix with foam pads. Finish with a string bow and enamel dots at the centres of the flowers.
